Pokémon GO: Type Strengths and Weaknesses Explained

Pokémon GO: Type Strengths and Weaknesses Explained

There are 18 categories, or “types,” as the game refers to them, that each Pokémon that are included in Pokémon GO belongs to. Additionally, each of Pokémon GO’s abilities and techniques has a specific ‘type’ that they all belong to. A Pokémon can have one or two types. The type determines a variety of characteristics about that Pokémon, including what sort of Pokémon it is solid and vulnerable against, what kinds of techniques it has, where it can be located in the real world, and how successful the Pokémon is in combat.

Every Pokémon kind and attack has strengths and weaknesses against several different types of Pokémon. The types of each Pokémon’s power play a role in determining what kinds of Pokémon are powerful against other Pokémon. Even though a Pokémon’s type greatly influences where that particular Pokémon can be encountered in the real world and what kinds of attacks it is vulnerable to.

All 18 presently recognized Pokémon types and Pokémon attacks/moves are present in Pokémon GO, just like in the Pokémon anime and video games. These types include Fairy, Fire, Grass, Water, Ice, Rock, Ground, Poison, Bug, Steel, Ghost, Fighting, Electric, Dark, and Water.

Pokémon GO gym battles heavily depend on Pokémon types and Pokémon ability types. A Pokémon’s attack will be Super Effective and deal the rival Pokémon 20% more damage if it has a more powerful type than the rival Pokémon. However, a Pokémon’s attack will not be helpful and will deal 20% less damage if one of its attack types is weaker than the type of the rival Pokémon.

Pokémon

Although Pokémon GO’s implementation of Pokémon types and ability types differs slightly from the popular Pokémon games, the fundamental concepts remain the same. When fighting against gyms in Pokémon GO, the best approach is to select a Pokémon that is of a type or has a strong move against the enemy Pokémon’s type. It can help to boost the damage dealt to the opponent Pokémon and to choose a Pokémon against which the enemy Pokémon’s type and the types of the enemy Pokémon’s strikes are weak.

The benefits and drawbacks of each Pokémon type and attack included in Pokémon GO are listed and discussed below.

Consider a Pokemon’s type if it is causing you problems in a raid or at a gym, and attempt to organize your team so each member has the appropriate Pokemon type and moves. This will help you win battles. Keep in mind that Pokemon have types much like their attacks and defenses.

It can all become a little confusing, so sure. You could have a Fire and Dragon-type Pokemon with a Flying-type attack. That might affect how effective the move is when you use it.

Dragon-type Pokemon

Each Pokemon has one or two types, as die-hard fans of the game will already be familiar with, and these types greatly influence how a Pokemon battles. The kind of Pokemon is crucial since some varieties are potent against others, allowing you to deal or take more damage or, on the other hand, reduce the damage you sustain.

Everything makes sense and is simple, but things become more difficult when you include more intricate Pokemon Types like Fairy or Dragon or when you consider Pokemon with various types. Then you must take into account that moves have types. As a result, a fire-type Pokemon like Charizard can easily be stacked with both Dragon and Flying-type moves, causing its type chart damaging level to be linked to both types rather than just its primary type.

It boils down to a simple game of Rock, Paper, Scissors with the beginning Pokemon: Charmander (Fire) defeats Bulbasaur (Grass), which beats Squirtle (Water), which defeats Fire to complete the circle.
