How to Unblock a Phone Number on an iPhone

There are various reasons why you would want to block a phone number or contact on your iPhone.

Perhaps you’re filtering all incoming calls and preventing spamming calls as they come in. You may not want text messages from contacts to appear on your screen when you’re at the office. Perhaps you no longer want a specific ex to be able to get in touch with you.

Blocking annoying calls from telemarketing businesses, unknown numbers, and specific persons in your contacts list will relieve you. But what if you block a friend by accident? Or perhaps you’d like to unblock someone but aren’t sure how? On iOS devices, this guide will show you how to unblock a phone number.

The excellent thing is that blocking contact is quick and easy. The good thing is that blocking a contact number isn’t irreversible, so you can reverse it if you decide. Unblocking a phone number is much simpler than blocking it in the first place.

But first, let’s make sure we’re together on the same path on what blocking calls entails.

What happens if you put someone on your iPhone’s blocklist?

You cannot get a call from a blocked iPhone number. They are also unable to FaceTime or text you. The banned caller can still leave a message, so it’s not as if they don’t have the means to contact you.

When a blocked number calls, your phone automatically transfers the call to voicemail, but your iPhone does not notify you that you have an unread voicemail message.

Rather, it will stay in your inbox unless you go into your inbox and erase the blocked caller’s voicemail.

How to Unblock a Phone Number on iPhone

But what happens if you accidentally block something or decide you need to communicate with the person you just blocked?

There are two methods for unblocking a phone number on an iPhone:

  • From the Settings menu
  • From the Recent Calls list

Here’s how you can accomplish both:

From Setting Menu

  • Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad from the home screen.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the Phone section, select it, and then choose Blocked Contacts.
  • Here, you can find a list of contacts you’ve blocked.
  • To unblock a phone number, touch Edit, then touch the red dot to its left.

From Recent Call List

  • Open Contacts from your iOS device’s home screen by tapping the relevant icon.
  • Then, find the contact you’d like to unblock, touch on it, and scroll to the bottom till you see Unblock, this Caller.

While the iPhone’s call-blocking technology is quick and efficient, number blocking tools given by phone carriers are not. The procedures above won’t work if you restrict the contact at the phone carrier level; in this instance, you’ll need to reconstruct the steps you did to block the number in the first place.

How to Unblock a Number with Your Phone Company

Blocking a contact with the iPhone and iPad’s developed call-blocking function is simple and quick, but it isn’t the sole method. Often these phone companies provide a service that allows you to restrict contact numbers for a fee or for free. If you’ve already banned phone numbers in this way, the methods in this article won’t help you. It’d only pertain to numbers blacklisted by Apple’s built-in features on your iPhone.

If you utilise your phone company’s call-blocking service and wish to unblock a number, call them or use their online assistance or iPhone app (if there is one). The phone company can help you unblock the number.

Final Words

It’s as simple as that. The amazing part about iOS’s blocked list is that you can just have a specific email id or contact number for a user blocked, and you can unblock only those you want. However, keep in mind that this will only allow contacts to contact you via Messages, Phone, or FaceTime; if you’ve blocked someone on a social networking app (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. ), you’ll need to unblock them on that app as well.
